Hi all. Around July/August of this year, I will buy my first new truck, and I am thinking about getting a F-150 STX or a Ram Warlock (either a 2025 or a 2026). F-150s have a historically better reliability rating than RAM, but I'm reading Ram is catching up quickly (I think Consumer Reports has the F-150 in the top slot for 2026). Since Ram has carried over their 10 year/100K mile warranty for all of 2026, would the better play to get the Ram due to their warranty and probably pay less than what I would for a F-150? I am not considering a Toyota, and a Chevy Silverado is a possibility, but not currently a top choice. I'm not brand loyal since this will be my first truck. I'm going for 1. reasonable price, 2. reliability and, 3. a great warranty.

Thanks for your guidance.

I really like the Ram hurricane and ZF, and the warranty. I like the interior the best, the way it drives/rides/quietness is all top notch. The biggest problem I see with guys in the groups are electrical issues. It started out with dead batteries, but seems to be hit or miss. Not the end of the world, certain not spinning main bearings or having very many transmission issues.

I like Fords too but I don't like the wet oil pump belt. If you are going to keep it through warranty and just trade it anyway, then the wet oil pump belts won't matter to you. I think the Fords electronics/battery etc. will probably be a bit more predictable/reliable. I don't like Ford or GM transmissions, don't like the interior that much either but that's subjective. The Ford was louder (wind noise etc.) than the Ram.

I don't put much stock in consumer reports anymore, they don't seem to be a good reflection of what I see in the Ford/GM/Ram/Toyota groups.

I would say most people are pretty happy with their Ram or Fords, a lot of people have been unhappy with the Tundras/GMs....just general feel from all of the forums/groups I visit.

I think the Warlock is a bargain for the powertrain it has, and the screen actually might be an advantage (faster/less issues) over the larger touch screen.

At the end of the day, I would go drive them all back to back and see what you think. Maybe even drive multiple trims. This is the best way (same day) to really get a feel for the differences, what you like and don't like.

I hope this helps!
