On July 30, 2024, I purchased my Bfgoodrich K03 LT tires for my 2023 TRD 4Runner. At the time, I was employed at an automotive dealership and had a close relationship with the parts manager. He extended a favorable deal on the tires and provided me with a favor to have the K03s delivered promptly. This was my first genuine all-terrain tire.
Upon receiving the tires, I encountered several issues. Initially, they felt like rocks on the road. After a week, the performance improved. However, within two to three weeks, I noticed that the tires lost balance and required an alignment. I initially attributed these problems to my own driving, as I had recently been rear-ended while purchasing my 4Runner in June. The highway I used to work on had a significant pothole section, and I had encountered similar issues after leaving that job and relocating to a more remote area.
Despite Toyota’s inspection, the truck appeared to be in good condition, and the tires were the culprit. I also had my 4Runner’s collision center work performed after the rear-end collision. Unfortunately, the issues persisted over time.
Specifically, over the past eight thousand miles during the summer, I have been struggling with steering wheel control. Additionally, the weights on my wheels keep falling off, and my alignment continues to deteriorate. Furthermore, my braking zone has worsened.
I have recently secured a job with the power company, which involves extensive driving. Therefore, I am committed to maintaining my truck’s optimal condition for the mileage.
I have discovered an independent, specialized Toyota shop that I highly recommend. The technician informed me that my tires are already showing signs of excessive wear. This realization has prompted me to consider the substantial time and financial investment required to repair or replace the tires.
Discount tires informed me that my tires are nearing the end of their warranty and offered me a credit of $315 for the AT/4W tires.
Having driven my K03s for twenty thousand miles, I must express my profound disappointment. The sales representative at Discount Tire acknowledged the issues and had previously assisted customers in replacing their K03s. He informed me that the early batch of tires had been subpar and that there may have been a safety recall for the tires.
