September 21, 2021. I went to Mike Erdman Toyota in Cocoa Florida and purchase a lifetime warranty battery for my 2015 Toyota Camry They gave me the option to purchase a lifetime warranty for $50. When I asked them what the terms of the warranty are they said that I needed to save my receipt and if I brought my old battery and they tested it and it was defective, they would replace it free of charge.

well, October 29, 2025 I brought my lifetime warranty battery in and they told me that they needed a lot of additional information such as the VIN number, mileage and finally the car itself. When I asked them why they needed the car they said that in order to warranty the battery they had to verify that the alternator and the starter were both good. This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. They are literally using this as a scam to get people into the shop so they can milk them for additional repairs. Their car probably doesn’t need.

Interesting. Dealers have a lot of tactics to get people in there and push them to new cars. They actually have manuals and teaching material on how to train the people in their service department to convert customers from the service lane to new buyers...it's crazy.
