My Tundra has been having lagged throttle after takeoff for a few months now. My truck is over 50k Miles and did well for the first 40k Miles. Last week it went limp and gave a loss of Power Warning and Check engine light. Then the very next day a parking brake assist light came on. I brought it to the dealer Nd they couldn't replicate the warning but seen that the Turbo had failure. They said they could not change the Turbo since theres an active Engine recall on my truck. My truck is sitting at the dealer with no committed date for when my engine will be replaced. Not sure what to even do as im paying on a truck i cant even drive. They offered to sell me a new 2026, i will not be staying with the 2023 knowing we only get a year warranty. Toyota is treating their faithful clients horribly on this issue they caused. Id go as far as saying this should be part of the Lemon Law act.

Sorry you are having those issues with the Tundra. Toyota has definitely taken a step back in quality late, but it seems everyone has which is a bummer for buyers. I'm assuming they want to perform the engine recall instead of replacing the dead turbo? That sounds like it might be your only option at this point since it's dead in the water. Did they give you a loaner? I personally wouldn't buy the 2026 unless they were willing to give you an unreal trade in value...then maybe it would save you a lot of hassle and be worth your time.

They have given me a loaner Tacoma. They do not have a clue when they’ll get a new crate engine for my truck. Ive been looking into the Hemi V8 thats back. But you're right all Manufacturers have their own set of problems these days. Its almost like the business model is mediocre quality so they can shorten your warranty to one year after repairs and force our hand to buy a new truck. Its a no win situation for the Client. New engines have proven to be just as bad and if it happens after the year im stuck with a dud. Thank you for this forum that brings light to the issues in the New truck and vehicle industry.

Yes the Hemi is back, both hemi and hurricane I believe have a 10yr/100k miles powertrain warranty for the first owner if you buy new. Not saying they are better quality but so far they haven't been spinning main bearings, and the interior/exterior components seem to be high quality. time will tell I suppose.
