Driving at 70 mph when I tried to accelerate. Heard a loud bang from the exhaust and immediately started to lose power. I had zero warning that anything was wrong. Warning messages flashed and I lost propulsion. As I was pulling over the engine died completely and shut off. Purchased the vehicle on 11/25 and had 4100 miles on it. 6.2L Chevrolet ZR2. Dealer confirmed that that the crankcase failed which resulted in catastrophic engine failure. Currently waiting on new replacement engine. Lemon lawyers have sent demands to GMC. I've owned four GMC/Chevrolet since 2004. I no longer trust this engine to not die. I ordered a 2026 Ram RHO yesterday. Only pray that I'm not trading one bad truck manufacturer for another. Sorry to hear of your misfortune, and I'm glad you were able to navigate the problem without an accident or injury. If you haven't already, you may want to try to report the issue to NHTSA. I would hope that catastrophic engine failure on the highway @ 70mph should be considered a safety issue for them.
I can't say from personal experience that you'll be happier with the RAM, but everything I hear on the Internets says that you're likely to not have any major powertrain issues throughout the warranty period as long as you do the proper maintenance. I've never been a Mopar guy myself, but it seems like it's the way to go at least for now if you're buying new.
Wish you the best on the new RAM.

Wow that's bad...sorry you had to go through that, the ZR2 package looks pretty cool on those. Glad you are OK and didn't get in to a wreck!
I think the RHO will surprise you with power and refinement...it really is the ultimate "supertruck" right now that fits the daily driver + Raptor like features.
Let us know how you like it. If you want some RHO content, CTECH-Review on Youtube (Barry) has some great content for it. He loves his....as does TRD-Jon.

Thanks for the reply car guy. I really appreciate it. The new engine has arrived at the Chevy dealership and I should be getting my Silverado back soon. Meanwhile I'm waiting on the results from the lemon lawyers. If I get a full refund, I was planning on putting that towards a new RHO. My question to you are; do you think that the new engine in my Chevy will have the same chances of failure as my last engine and any other critical failures I need to be aware of? Has Chevy come up with any way of preventing or predicting these failures? Thanks

It’s tough to say with GM I’ve seen a lot of replacement engines fail, but then many people don’t have problems even with the original engine so it doesn’t seem like the problem is being fixed, but also not everyone has the same problem.
I’ve read so many stories of people saying their engine felt like it was driving completely fine and then just seized up all of a sudden, so not sure you’ll have warning signs.

Thanks, that's kinda what I thought. I've followed your coverage on these 6.2 failures, it's been great and shocking. Only wish id have seen them before I bought. It seems like GM has known this would happen and tried to cover it up as I was assured that all the problems from 21-24 engines had been fixed. These people that assured me either lied to me or GM lied to them. I've heard that there could be as high as a 3% failure rate on these engines. Unacceptable. But odds are higher that mine should be fine. I'll never be able to trust this engine again though. Lemon lawyers seem to think I'll get a full refund and that will go to the purchase of an RHO. Unfortunately when I mentioned this plan to the legal team the paralegal practically begged me to not get a RAM as the RAMs accounted for the majority of their business... I pressed her for details, but she couldn't say much. That conversation left me with a queasy feeling in my stomach. However; It also didn't seem to add up as my research has shown zero engine failures on the Hurricane and the transmissions seem to be bullet proof. Electrical issues have to be the culprit. I traded in a 21 Power Wagon in for the 26 zr2 and one of the reasons was minor, but annoying electrical issues. The Power Wagon never left me stranded though and looking back I'd trade electrical issues for engine failure every time. Thanks for your time and input. I'll continue following you and let you know how this all shakes out.
